PF-2 A-11 plate. Serial #79. Uncancelled. Apparent (net) grade mentions minor stains and edge tears. The edge tear is on the lower right side by the train vignette. The stains are on the Liberty and Shield vignette and on the back.

This is the rarest type of Confederate note with only 118 examples known (Both the A-b and A-# plates combined). Most are low grade or cut-cancelled. There are two pinholes, like staple holes near the top slightly right of center. The Newman note (Heritage 10/15:18784 VF20 $25,850) also has these pinholes.

The T27 notes were printed from two different plates. The first 7,160 "Ab" plate T27 notes were printed alongside the "Ab" T35 $5 Indian Princess notes on an eight-subject plate. An additional 1,460 T27 notes were issued and printed from a new plate using positions "A9" to "A16," and this example was printed from that plate, #11.

This is so rare of a note that Pierre Fricke lists all known notes of both plate type in his book. This note is not among those listed.
