Average Unc (11: 3,5,3) The rare and desirable overdate - Die #1. The 7 is exceptionally bold and this is a very early die state example. This issue is always weak on the lower right obverse and corresponding upper right reverse due to skewed dies. This makes the tail and wreath in these areas weak. On this example the dies were misaligned over the right side on both sides. This is a minor complaint compared to the super sharpness of the overdate feature. It is the true early die state example. The die chip above the date (actually the corner of a misplaced "1" digit) is very sharp and triangular. There are very few marks - by the eagles talon and by the ST in STATES. The reverse is mostly mark-free.
This is a super example of this very popular overdate in a very tough grade. If the strike were stronger on the right side it would easily be called a MS64.
