Gem Unc (13: 4,5,4). Early die state with the 7 showing very clearly. PCGS denotes this die state a being strong, with a strong overdate. This example is high in the top 10 condition census and ranks as the fifth finest known. It has a light golden tone with a touch of emerald  when flashed in the light. The strike has the typical weakness on the tail and corresponding upper-right wreath on the reverse. There are a few light marks. Some, like the one above the head is a contact mark, while all others are unstruck-out planchet marks. Planchet marks are found around the weak strike area around the tail.

The 7 is very bold and shows clearly. The misplaced digit above the first 8 in the date is sharp and triangular. This is caused by the edge of a 1-digit punch being punched into the field. This is a super high-end example of this vary tough variety. The Stewart Blay example, in the same grade recently sold for $80K. It is considered slightly better due to strike.
