1858 1C Small Letters High Leaves Flying Eagle Cent PCGS PR64 (PHOTO SEAL)

Choice Proof (14: 4,5,5). Proof Flying Eagle cents are some of the most beautiful coins there are! This coin is no exception. The mirrors are very good - very close to cameo. There are a scattering of fly specks on the right field area, which accounts for the grade not being higher. The reverse is the High Leaves reverse which is a very rare die combination recognized by PCGS. The population is currently Pop-1, a PR63. When this is reholdered it will be finest graded. The High Leaves reverse is the design from 1857. Only about 20 examples exist of the Small Letters/ High Leaves design pair. This subset of coins is from a total mintage of only 150 Proof Small Letters cents. The vast majority of this issue have the Low Leaves reverse.
