1858 1C J-206 Small Flying Eagle Cent PCGS PR65 (PHOTO SEAL & CAC)
Gem Proof (14: 4,5,5). Agricultural wreath (Type of 1858), Low leaves. Snow-PT16. Good mirrors. The fields have heavy die striations, which indicates an early die state. Very few marks. An outstanding example. None graded higher. The Small Eagle is likely a product of the hand of Assistant Engraver Anthony C. Paquet. The idea was to make as much of the design as possible to fit within the center of the die. It is also a very low relief design.
