1858 1C Small Flying Eagle Cent J-204 PCGS PR64 (PHOTO SEAL & CAC)
Choice Proof (14: 4,5,5). A stunning example of this very popular pattern cent. The obverse is by Assistant Engraver Anthony C. Paquet. His small eagle design is a very low relief and was designed to relive stress on the dies. The reverse is the Ornamented Shield design by Longacre. The fields are very deep mirrors with numerous die polishing lines. There are a few light spots that are not really visible unless held directly in the light, as in the true view image. There is a hairline scratch below the eagle's tail which is the only issue of any grade limiting consequence. Many of these typically come rather dull and this one will blow them all away with its mirrors are extremely beautiful eye appeal.
