Light golden tone. at least 12 dies were made in 1856 with the eagle and lettering. some were dated 1856 and the rest were held over and dated 1857. These represent the first style of Flying Eagle. The lettering was slightly changed after these dies were used up. A great addition to a regular date set as it constitutes a design change - Type of 1856.
