1856 1C Snow-1b "Tilted ONE CENT" Copper Flying Eagle Cent PCGS PR64BN (PHOTO SEAL)

Choice Proof (14: 4,5,5) BN. Copper. This is the famed "Tilted ONE CENT" 1856 Flying Eagle struck in copper. It is believed to be unique as such. The Snow-1 is a very rare and highly desirable die pairing. It is the only use of the reverse which shows the ONE CENT rotated with respect to the wreath. Less than 10 examples are known struck in copper-nickel and this is the only example in copper. The surfaces shows good mirrors and it would likely grade PR65BN were it not for small scratch by the right wreath tip.

The surface is an even brown. Like many of the known Snow-1 1856's it appears to have been bronzed at the mint. It is believed that the Snow-1 was the first 1856 cent struck.
