1855 1C J-172 Flying Eagle Cent NGC PR65BN (PHOTO SEAL & CAC)
Gem Proof (13: 4,4,5) BN. S-PT2, Two leaves under E in STATES. 100% Copper and noted as such on the holder. A 113.4 grain example, which is one of the heaviest examples known. These are supposed to be 100 grains and copper examples fall within a small 92 to 99 grain window. Only a singular 142.4 grain example exists. Of the 100 examples estimated to have been struck , the pure copper examples make up a small minority, perhaps as few as 20 struck. The fields are deep mirrors with heavy die polishing lines on both sides. A small clash from the ear hole of the Liberty head pattern die is visible on the reverse. A very important example. Ex: EERC 4/19; Don Kelley collection.
