This pricing guide is a combination of recent sales and buy offers of correctly graded Flying Eagle and Indian Cents. To use this guide correctly, you must understand what the prices represent and their relevance to the overall market in these coins.

Grading: The most important thing to keep in mind is what constitutes a correctly graded coin. Any coin which is labeled with a grade that most experienced collectors accept for the definition is a correctly graded coin. Any certified coin is not necessarily a correctly graded coin. The overwhelming majority of collectors now realize that what has gotten encapsulated by PCGS, NGC, ICG, ANACS, PCI, and any other third party grading service needs to inspected and judged on its own merits before an agreement is made about the grade on the holder. As far as Eagle Eye Rare Coins is concerned, any photo sealed coin is automatically placed in the correctly graded category and has its value reflected in this list. For uncertified coins, this list also applies if the coin in question is a relatively problem free example which meets the accepted ANA grading standards. Since we have not seen all certified coins, and we don’t Photo Seal ANACS and PCI coins, many non-photo sealed coins may also be worthy of the prices on this list, although the percentage of these coins is becoming small.

Buying prices: To calculate our base buying price for any coin listed here, take 75% of the retail price listed. We of course reserve the right to decline any buy that may be an unwanted duplication of our inventory or some other reason. We are always in need of quality coins, so please offer us any coins you may have available for sale. Of course, we may offer more than the 75% of ask too! The market is such that there is great competition of attractive coins. We offer a base price, but if you feel your coin is worth more, please feel free to ask if we can pay more! We certainly want your nice coins.

Asking prices: As stated above the prices listed are based on past sales. If no recent past sales have taken place the price will be based on our buying price at the same relation stated above. No price is listed that cannot be backed up with our intention to buy based on that price or our historical data to show an actual sale at that level.

We try to maintain a free flow of information with the general pricing guides used in the marketplace. We are contributors to the “Guide book of United States Coins” commonly known as the “Red Book” , and it’s wholesale guide, the “Blue Book”. Our buying prices (75% of the prices listed) are supplied to the “Coin Dealer Newsletter” and is usually published by them as the current “bid”. In the few instances that our buy is above the CDN’s published bid, then you should view our bid as the current wholesale market because, as the CDN plainly makes clear: “They do not buy or sell coins”. Our retail transactions normally get supplied to Coin World’s “Trends” column and the Numismatic News "Marketplace". In some instances there is a great difference in their price and ours. This is usually due to a substandard coin selling at a discount in an advertisement or an auction or an undergraded coin getting an unusually high price at an auction. The editors of other price guides cannot inspect every coin that trades, so expect a larger margin of error in their price reporting.

All price guides are historical in nature. Other price guide which I fee are useful are the Numismedia Fair Market Price Guide which lists coins at the lowest asking price in the current market. The PCGS on-line price guide is a dynamic and constantly moving interpretation of the market. The editors of that price guide are working very hard to bring accurate pricing to you. I would recommend checking their price guide before any purchase. This price guide is as current as you can get because it’s what the market is right now.
