On December 11, 2004 Bob Ford discovered what would be known as the 2004-D Wisconsin Extra Leaf Quarters. This video explains the discovery and initial marketing and later eBay speculation in these modern day rarities. The video is divided into two parts with Rick explaining his involvement in the coins and the price run-up from the time the coins started to be found in change in Tucson, AZ and San Antonio TX until they reached a pinnacle in a speculative bubble on eBay with MS-67 NGC 3-piece sets selling for $10,000!
The second half of the presentation is by professional metallurgist and die variety collector Chris Pilliod. Chris explains in detail why the only explanation for these marks occurring is that someone surreptitiously put them there on purpose! Say you don't believe it?
