Two Leaves under E in STATES, bronze. Fully struck and a real beautiful example. There are really no marks or abrasions to warrant the grade. The dies show heavy die polish on both sides, but this is a desirable aspect of the coin. The metrics of the coin are labeled on the holder.
The Low Leaves reverse of which less than10 are traced with an additional 5 patterns (J-183) from this same die pair. This is a very tough die pair that was struck in 1858 at the same time as the 12-piece pattern sets. The coin has fairly deep mirrors and a light golden tone around the date and devices. A beautiful Proof with watery fields and deep mirrors. Should grade PR65 or better. Light golden tone.
30% RED. Mostly a russet-brown with gold flashes in the light. This is a very tough date with only 20 graded with 3 better.
90% RED. Nearly full red with an outstanding look.
90% RED. Great mirrors and nearly full red.
95% RED. Medium mirrors. Nearly full red.
Attractive chocolate brown.
Purple-brown toning over near-perfect surfaces.
90% RED. Good mirrors with very few problems. Close to full red.
Wonderful magenta, rose, violet and emerald toning. The surfaces are flawless and the coin should be graded 67BN. This gem came out of an original set of Proof Indians sold in 1904 by the Chapman brothers and kept in their original envelope until recently. The toning must be seen in person to truly appreciate it.
