Some edge bumps and mild pitting. Medium brown with a slightly brighter color by the date due to a light wipe, probably from an attempt to see the date better. The full legend, denomination and wreath are visible on the reverse. The full portrait and LIBERTY is also visible. The date is partially visible.
20% RED. Well struck with no weakness on the rim and denticles. Widely accepted to be the second finest example. Ex: Naftzger and labeled as such on the holder. The coin shows die file marks by star 13, which is not found on other examples seen. It is as an early die state piece due to this. This is a popular Red Book variety.
